David is a skilled music educator who has worked in a wide variety of settings.

David has taught piano at leading music schools such as the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Leeson Park School of Music and Nord Anglia International School. He is currently the Head of Music at St. Kilian’s German School, Dublin and also teaches junior musicianship classes at the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

David is also a skilled traditional music teacher. He has taught at Spink Comhaltas, Co. Laois as well as privately, preparing students for SCT examinations and Fleadh Cheoil competitions. He holds a TTCT Diploma in traditional Irish music teaching from Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. He has been a member of staff at the Meitheal Summer School for a number of years and has taught at Scoil Éigse, the annual summer school held at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.

David is interested in research in music education. He was awarded the Ashling Murphy Scholarship for Music Education from Comhaltas in August 2026 and plans to use this bursary to explore approaches to teaching traditional Irish music on the piano.
